Flew down to Abu Simbel without any dramas. I left my bag at the Aswan guest house, and just took a few things in my small backpack. The hotel in Abu Simbel is another Nubian, called Eskaleh, which is the Nubian word for waterwheel. It is a rather larger and more ambitious place than the little one in Aswan, but the little Aswan house was the winner for simple friendlyhospitality.
Still, it was a very comfortable environment for a short stay, and by far the best proposition in Abu Simbel.
My room, complete with dressing room, bath, and private patio.
The little patio, very pleasant place for a glass of wine before bed.
One of the internal courtyards.
Main dining/lounge area.
View from the rooftop lounge.
The water wheel that gives Eskaleh its name.
